A Message from our Founder and Artistic Director Grenville Hancox
Caring through Singing
When I landed on these words in 2012, reflecting many years of activity with group singing in school, university and the wider community, we could not have predicted a virus emerging which has had such a profound global effect. The first time for so many things ranging from the closing of Cathedral doors to the negative cost of a barrel of oil. The impact on group singing activities across the globe is similarly profound.
Our plans for the year ahead therefore have to be recast and whilst no dates can be inked in at present for a return to meeting in person, our interim solution for the way forward is as follows:
Virtual meetings will continue each week through Zoom technology - NB: An invitation to join the group will be sent out by email each week.
- Monday Music Canterbury will meet at 11am each week
- Monday Music Folkestone will meet at 11am each week (separate group to Canterbury)
- Canterbury Skylarks will meet each week on Tuesday at 2pm
- Amici Will continue its Amichat sessions each week on Wednesdays at 5pm
Trust Finances
Through prudent management of the Trust we are in a relatively healthy and strong position to take our activities forward when it is safe to return to meeting up. However, the weekly income stream of subscriptions and donations has, for now, dried up (as with so many other charities) and so I want to draw your attention to the possibilities of Give As You Live.
If every one involved in weekly CCT activities contributes £5 a month we will create a secure income which will assure our future and cover the administration costs concerned with managing the charity and delivering the online sessions. These and any other donations to the Trust will be most gratefully received.
